UPSC Civil Services 2016 Prelims Exam Analysis
UPSC Civil Services Exam will be conducted with many candidates appearing at various exam centres across the country.
UPSC Civil Services paper pattern includes - General Studies (Paper I) which consists of 100 questions, each carries 2 marks, which makes it a 200 marks paper. The questions will be usually asked from general subjects such as, Geography, History, and General Science. Likewise the General Studies (Paper II), carries 80 questions based on Comprehensions, each question carries 2.5 marks, making it a 200 marks paper. Negative marking is applicable to both is papers, which is 1/3rd of the marks allotted to each question that is marked wrong will be deducted.
Analysis of UPSC Civil Services Prelims Paper I
In UPSC prelims paper 1, General Studies (Paper 1) is sometimes the difficult part of the civil services exam due to the presence of data-type questions in some sections. Usually 100 questions are included in this paper which may come from various subjects including Bio-diversity & World, Environmental Ecology, Climate Change, and Geography.
Additionally, many questions in this section may be asked from Indian History and Indian Polity.
Analysis of UPSC Civil Services Prelims Paper II
General Studies Paper II may turn out to be easy, as questions may be asked from Problem Solving and Decision Making. Comprehension section is the major contributor in the Civil services Paper II which had a total of 80 questions.
To qualify in these exam, it is necessary to secure at least 33% marks in each of these sections. This analysis is made depending on the previous year papers, this information may be useful for this year’s exam.
